The Twinsburg Division of The Shelly Company is hard at work for this year's charities. The Shelly Company Community Action Team has chosen four different charities for 2007-2008.

Akron Children's Hospital - Denim and Diamonds

The Shelly Company was a Marquise Sponsor for the Akron Children's Hospital Denim and Diamonds event with a $5,000.00 donation.

This event, held on September 15, 2007, raised over $500,000 for the construction of a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Laboratory at Akron Children's Hospital. Several employees from The Shelly Company attended this event which featured both live and silent auctions and was held at the University of Akron Student Union Ballroom.

U. S. Soldiers Around The World

The Twinsburg Division of The Shelly Company organized a donation campaign to collect items that will be sent to U. S. Soldiers in Afghanastan and Iraq.

The Twinsburg Office along with the Massilon, Kent, Streetsboro and Copley plants collected clothing, personal items, disposable cameras, food, playing cards and other items that were sent to two different units of the armed forces. The Massilon Plant won a pizza party for collecting the most items.

The Community Action Team hosted a luncheon to benefit this cause and was surprised by our very own Cathleen Seenes' nephew, Collin Ferguson, who was home on leave from Afghanastan. Collin's first stop after arriving in Ohio was the Twinsburg Office to thank us personally for our correspondence and concern for the troops in his unit.

The campaign also rasied $249 in cash to ship the 42 boxes of items to Iraq and Afghanastan.

Special Olympics

The Shelly Company Community Action Team organized the first ever Holiday Raffle to benefit the Special Olympics.

Tickets were sold by several team members in the division office for $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. The drawing was held on November 29, 2007.

As a result of this effort, The Shelly Company Twinsburg Division was able to donate $4,500 to the Special Olympics of Greater Cleveland.

Cleveland Animal Protective League

Throughout the month of November The Shelly Company Community Action Committee will be collecting the several items including pet food, pet toys, leashes, cleaning supplies, and other items to help benefit the Cleveland Animal Protective League.
