Taking an Active Role in Education
Virtual Education Opportunity
The Shelly Company takes an active role in educating our communities about our operations, culture and job sites. We believe in sharing our resources to better help the future workforce understand the importance in building roads and infrastructure.
To share our business with students who aren't able to visit our quarries in person this year, we've compiled a number of educational resources to create a "virtual tour". Click the red links below each description to view that specific resource.
Google Slides Presentation: This presentation includes photos, videos and activities curated to help students in grades 2-6 learn about the construction industry. It has a special focus on the operation of an aggregate quarry.

Printable Activities: Printable versions of the activities described in the Google Slides Presentation are linked below.

Virtual Field Trip Videos: These videos offer a fun, educational perspective on quarry operation. Both videos were made at quarries owned by our sister company, Stoneco, in Michigan.
"The Shelly Company Story" Video: This video explores several Shelly aggregate, asphalt, concrete and construction operations. (Bonus: it includes a blast at one of our quarries!)
Rocks Build Our World Elementary Education Program
Shelly employees typically present this program in local elementary classrooms to compliment the rocks and minerals curriculum. The program can also be tailored to showcase careers in the construction industry. While we aren't able to visit classrooms in person this year, we are happy to share fun RBOW videos students can view at home.
