Porous Asphalt Pavement
The Shelly Company is active in the production of Porous Asphalt Pavements in Ohio. A porous pavement allows surface water to seep through into a stone recharging bed. The bed is designed to retain water and allow it to percolate into the soil at a measured rate. Porous pavement helps in storm water management, improves runoff water quality and recharges the ground water table. In the winter months, it prevents ice from forming on the pavement. Porous asphalt pavements, in certain cases, may qualify for LEED accreditation.
