Beginning as a small business with surface treatment equipment and small staff, over time and through several acquisitions, The Shelly Company has grown into a successful vertically integrated aggregates, construction, asphalt, ready mix and building materials organization with a large workforce employed throughout the state of Ohio. The Shelly Company, an Oldcastle company, with headquarters in Thornville, Ohio and offices strategically located in Dover, Findlay and Twinsburg consists of 28 aggregate quarries & sand and gravel operations, 37 asphalt plants, 7 rail yards, 22 ready mix concrete plants, 3 liquid asphalt terminals and 1 river terminal. Stoneco Inc. was formed as a division of the S.E. Johnson Companies in the 1980’s and has been a leading supplier of construction aggregates and asphalt materials in Northwest Ohio and lower Michigan ever since. In 2003 S.E. Johnson merged within The Shelly Company umbrella. Today, Stoneco continues to operate aggregate, asphalt and materials locations in Ohio and Michigan.

In 2006, The Shelly Company purchased Integrated Resources & Dielman Concrete. Thus creating All Ohio Ready Mix. The Shelly Company gained the following concrete plants located in Toledo and Maumee. All Ohio Ready Mix is a leading supplier of building materials and ready mix concrete for residential, commercial and industrial markets as well as major projects for the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Founded in 1922 as A.H. Smith and Son, Smith Concrete has progressed from a cement and mortar supplier in downtown Marietta to a ready mix concrete supplier. Today, the company operates 71 mixer trucks in its unparalleled service of Southeastern Ohio and West Virginia. Since joining The Shelly Company, Smith Concrete has grown to include plants in Athens, Belpre, Cambridge, Coshocton, Marietta, Dover, Mt. Eaton, Carrollton, Cadiz and Zanesville, Ohio. Price Inland Terminal

Price Inland joined The Shelly Company in 2002, giving Shelly a new line of business throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley. With this purchase Price Inland Terminal inherited the business known as Shelly Materials Incorporated Marine Transportation L.P. This operation includes 20 barges, four towboats and a portable unloading rig.

Throughout the years Price Inland has developed into a fully operational unloading facility and fleeting area on the Ohio River. The company now unloads many different products such as steel beams, limestone, coal, super sacks and fertilizer, as well as a fleeting area capable of holding 40 barges.

Jefferson Materials

Jefferson Materials Company, located in Streetsboro, Ohio, has been in the business of mining and processing sand and gravel since the 1960’s. Upon the acquisition of Northern Ohio Paving Co. in 2000, The Shelly Company assumed Jefferson’s mining and processing operation at Shelly’s 257-acre site.

Allied Corporation

Allied Corporation began as the material production company of Northern Ohio Paving. They operated several asphalt plants and a sand and gravel mine. When Northern Ohio Paving joined The Shelly Company in 2000, Allied retained its existing business and took in all of Shelly’s plants and mines.
