The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) honored The Shelly Co., an Oldcastle Materials company, at its 25th annual symposium, “Celebrating Corporate Conservation,” in Baltimore, Md., November 13-14.
The Shelly Co.’s Dresden Wildlife Habitat Site was named the Corporate Lands for Learning of the Year for outstanding environmental education, stewardship and voluntary employee efforts.
Another Shelly Co. site, the Ostrander Wildlife Habitat Site, was awarded the 2013 Prairies for Tomorrow award by the Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever organization for its outstanding prairie restoration project.
The Shelly Co.’s Petersburg Wildlife at Work site was recertified, and the Dresden site was recertified as a Corporate Lands for Learning site. Oldcastle Materials has 17 certified wildlife habitat sites nationwide, and The Shelly Co. manages five of those sites throughout Ohio.
